Falcon 87 kickstart, kickback

Post  chrisc on Tue Feb 06, 2018 2:57 pm

I recently changed the battery from a gel to a lead acid type on my Falcon 87, and since then the kickstart has been kicking back before the engine fires, it has always done it occasionally ,but since the new battery was fitted it is doing it with monotonous regularity. I have not touched the timing since changing the battery, but it does seem odd.....lead acid battery is 6Volts 6A/h
already got one gammy leg, don't want another Very Happy ...cheers chrisc

Kickback

That's very odd .
Maybe you should check the timing anyway. Also check the points open and close completely. And no Louise wires that could make it spark.

I always think if a bike kicks back in say 1 in 10 times the timing is not far out.

Thank you for the advice Ken, I shall give the timing another check over ,I do feel something has changed , also I have notice it is giving a better spark on the plug too,
Thanks again chrisc

Kick back

Maybe if the spark was weak it wasn't firing and now it does you get the kickback.
Set your points before timing it.
