Yes this was an option on some models, usually lined in gold as well, as was a chromed tank

Per the sales leaflets of the time, the chrome plated wheel rims were lined green and gold on all the Cruiser and Falcon models from at least 1956 to 1959; from the 1960 model year the lining was no longer applied. This was not an optional feature.

Chromium plated tanks were always an option; my Falcon 87 was built with a chrome plated tank at an extra cost, including purchase tax, of 4-2-7d.

Chrome tank

Post  piston 197 on Mon Jan 01, 2018 10:31 am

My Cruiser 71 ( 1955) also has the chromed option tank, i have also seen blue Falcon 58 and 67 with painted blue wheels with gold pin-striping lines
My original 1956 Falcon 74 which i had from the age of 16 and was the second owner had plain chrome Dunlop rims, in spite of the suggestion that the brochure said painted and lined wheels, there was also the caveat " the manufacturer reserves the right to alter specification without notice" so anything on the brochure can always be taken with a pinch of salt.?, but brochures did state chromium plated wheel rims lined in green and gold !
