Tank knee pad fixing screws

Post  FB vincent on Sat Nov 25, 2017 9:11 am

For the tank pads, the screws are retained by 'U' nuts, also known as captive nuts or speed fasteners. The screws themselves should be cross headed with a head diameter of 3/8" (so that they fit in the moulded recess of the pads) x 1/2" length, the self tap thread will be to suit the nuts (but with a flat end, you do not want to screw into the tank!)

For the engine mounting bolts, AMC generally used bsf for the engine but cycle thread for the frame; the engine mountings are probably cycle thread. You should be able to work out the diameter and length of the bolts or studs that you require from the existing mountings.
