Alternator wires

Post  top brass on Wed Nov 15, 2017 11:16 am

Hello I am converting a 1959 model 82 scrambler to a model 83 trials, the wiring on the cruiser 80/84 alternator is maroon- light green- white- orange, (maroon from the points ). on the trials 83 dark red (for direct lighting) - maroon to coil c/b - translucent to coil s/w ( trans is the feed to the coil ) The new alternator on my rebuilt engine has the colours purple- white- brown- red- and also translucent- (in total 5 wires ) could this alternator feed two systems 1 lighting 2 ignition with having a translucent wire.Your thoughts would be very much appreciated thanks.

Tony.

Hi Tony,

I do have wiring diagrams for both Trials & Cruiser 80 if you would like a copy?

Seems a shame to convert the Scrambler that is so rare or do you mean you are just making it road usable?

I have a Scrambler 82 & 2 Trials 83s but regret all with Villiers 36a & 32a/s.  All road legal. I keep the Scrambler wheels tyres & comp plates so it can be put back to full scrambler at any time.

Regards

Peter
