V20TS is an AMC 20T engine from a James L20S sports captain, in reality no different to the standard 20T it just had polished cases
The V pre-fix means I was assembled by Villiers for AMC
Engine Nos V20TS 8527 Sept 1963
V20TS9136 Sept 1964

so your engine will have come from a 1964 model L20S which left the factory some where between the dates above

According to the contemporary sales leaflet, the 20TS engine had polished transfer ports and was selectively assembled. Whether this had any beneficial performance affect is impossible to say, since AMC never published their two stroke engine outputs. These engines were immediately identifiable when new from the silver painted cylinder rather than the standard black, and also seemed to be even noisier (or perhaps this was the result of the lunatic kids riding the Sports Captain)
