Falcon 81 rear brake..

Post  john87 on Sat Oct 21, 2017 12:03 pm

Hi all,

When you take your foot of the rear brake pedal, should the pedal be such that it comes to rest on the rubber part of the footrest, or the metal bit of the footrest itself BEHIND the rubber.

Second, In the makers book, they give instructions for fitting a rear brake light switch. They give a drawing and say something about; "Remove brake stop [shown in the exploded position] before fitting switch assembly"

What is a brake stop?? There is an "L" shaped piece of metal bolted behind one of the swinging arm nuts, but i have no idea what it is for or what it is supposed to do...

Falcon rear Brake

Post  peter@dunfordconstruction on Sat Oct 21, 2017 1:35 pm

Hi John,

The brake stop is that angled triangulated piece bolted on. If you fit a stoplamp switch ( which are easily available )you have to remove the stop. You will also need as special bracket and new clevis pin for the brake arm & and an actuator arm. If you would like a photo please send me your E-mail address

Hi Peter,

What i need to know, is what it does when you do not have a stop light.. I would guess that the extended clevis pin butts up against it to set the height of the brake pedal??

I will send email now!!

John,

The Stop should act as a stop for the arm of the footrest.
