Cruiser 80 1958 25T timing.

Hi
Newbie post. After looking through this forum for information about timing for a Cruiser I gather that the right
timing is "Ignition timing 1/4' btdc and point gap is .012" which seems right to me, but on looking through my
original instruction book for the Cruiser it states "Ignition timing is effected by measuring the piston 1/4" down
stroke"

can anyone shed light on this as it appears to me that the timing is after tdc which maybe's I am misreading.

Timing

Timing will definitely be BTDC, ie 1/4" down from top position , but definitely on the UP stroke, timing it 1/4" after it has reached top dead centre and on the down stroke , will only be handy if you intend to run it backwards !?
