WANTED - High level exhaust for Villiers 8E engine

Post  ron.wright26@gmail.com on Thu Oct 05, 2017 5:45 pm

Has anyone got a high level trials exhaust pipe for a Villiers 8E engine for sale. Does not need to be chromed. Also a suitable silencer if possible. This is for my trialised Francis Barnett Falcon.

Hi Ron

I purchased 4 90 deg stainless bends from eBay. Flared the first for the flange then tacked them in place and got someone to weld them with stainless.
I use a silencer from a sports 250 expansion box.

I do think you can buy the hockey stick type though .

Well if I ask anyone they say it sounds the same as most Francis Barnett's but as its only 3 feet from my ear you can certainly hear it.  I may put a little wire wool in it once everything is sorted.

I put the heat tape on it as I was running it in the garden with shorts on and leaned over to look at something and had a nasty burn .

Thanks Ken for the info. What size rear sprocket are you running and where did you get it from. I want to use this bike on the Beamish Trial so it needs to have some road speed.

Sprockets

Post  kerabo on Sun Oct 08, 2017 1:01 pm

I had a 62 on but it was too slow for road use. About 38 tops

I had the original sprocket that was with the hub and it's much better can do 50 on a good day.

If you leave a template of your original with the Chain Gang they will make you whatever you want and post them both back to you.

I can't remember the size of my gearbox sprocket .
