AMC rear shocks

Post  Bigjim on Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:05 pm

Did FBs also use the in-house AMC/James type rear shocks? The ones that can be dismantled for cleaning etc. circa 1955/57

Yes 1955 to 57 Falcon 70,75, cruiser 71,75, had the serviceable type but changed to 3 way adjustable sealed Koni type for the later bikes, James went with the cheap nasty split bottom chrome collet type after 57 which are a beggar to get apart without a special tool and are also sealed throw away items

Shocks

Thanks John. Currently rebuilding a pair for the 55 James captain. Luckily my friend has new old stock seals. The bronze bushes have seen better days.
