1H Starting

Post  Geoff Hooper on Sat Sep 16, 2017 7:14 pm

I have looked at lots of threads, and been through all I can to try and get the cruiser started. A few weeks ago I got it started several times for a few seconds at a time. Then it stopped because the woodruff key sheared. Sorted that, but have not been able to start it since. I have :
Checked timing
Got a fat blue spark
Checked fuel to carb ok
When removed spark plug wet with petrol.
I have tried heating the plug.
I don't think I have done the thimble of fuel in the plughole yet
Sorry this is a rehash of other threads......
Could the crankcase be flooded? Does this happen? May draining it help? Could this stop it starting?
As usual, all of your expertise would be welcome. The shed beckons.
Thanks,
Geoff

Most definitely. Drain the crankcase sump. You may be surprised at how much can accumulate in there.
