I have had confirmation from David Pope (Department for Transport) that this new legislation WILL include motorcycles.

Rolling 40 yr MOT exemtion

Post  chamberslane on Mon Sep 25, 2017 12:30 pm

Hi John, This is good news for me. I have 5 bikes that are all kept on the road all year round. What I save on the MOTs will pay for my insurance.

I am sure most of us were aware of this, I have known for some time, I had not heard that it was not going to include bikes, but now looks as if it does include them ?? so was irrelevant ?
Fingers crossed as this is an EU driven thing and in theory we are abandoning that lot, so hopefully we will still keep this rule ?
The FBHVC is pretty good at keeping the clubs informed of any DVLA plans, fortunately the club is an associate member and as a DVLA approved dating officer I get a copy of their monthly magazine with all DVLA new plans and directives, so may be ahead of some other members ?
