cruiser 80 main crankshaft bearings

Post  sbeagle on Wed Aug 23, 2017 11:56 am

Hi Can anyone help me with the bearings for the 25T engine?

I am having trouble getting replacements. The bearing has MS9 and measures 12mmx57mmx17mm and also need the bearing for the other end of the crankshaft and the oil seals?

All information and help would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks,Simon

Yes Bearings for the AMC engines are a lot dearer than for the Villiers, Mr Piatti an Italian, designed the AMC engine with Imperial bearings ?? the Villiers engines post war used metric bearings which are available for about 5 each.
Go figure ??

How ironic, we use metric bearings, an Italian uses imperial bearings.
I never understood why we used metric wheel bearings, thank goodness we did!

Bearings

They are available. Mine for my 20T came from Anglia Bearings in Peterborough . Funny thing is I have a slightly different number and would have expected the same. One side if you go for quality is very expensive

Thanks for all the replies and help.

For Your information and future reference

The timing side bearing is available from Simply bearings and either RMS9 or MRJ 7/8 which is the one I opted for as this was what was previously fitted (35.98 each + vat and shipping).

The drive side bearings are MS9 but these are discontinued and George lodge provided me with an equivalent (similar price to above) RMS7

Thanks, Simon
