Hi all ,

Ineed various afvise on different parts , I have inserted a few pictures to make things easier however but I have no actual idea if you'll be able to see them , please let me know if you can't and I'll try post skme more .

1. How do I remove the chrome cylinder / bezel ( i am unaware of its actual name) that's on the lower part of the fork shield ? There shouldn't be a picture of the part I mean above

2. On the underside of the swing arm there isn't a welded in bolt , and I'm not sure what its purpose is ? ( again there shouldn't Be a picture above )

3. On the right hand subframe there is this welded on metal loop and again I can't tell what its purpose is? ( should be a photo above )

4.is there a specific oil thickness or type I should use  for the forks?

5. Doesn't anyone know where I an find oil seals for these Forks , its a 1959 falcon

Sorry for the super long lists but there a lot I don't know 😂 It may also make it easier to answer aswell in that sort of format .

If you have any advice I wouldn't be grateful
Thanks Scott

forks seals can be got from Villiers services.  John Harding, might have a tool to help fit the seals over the bushes.  I bought one and it works very well.  to get the seals over the second bush, I broke open a  small drinks carton, the ones with a foil liner.  Then cut it to wrap over the top bush, giving the seal a kind of easier time over the flat edge.

oil grade was specified as SAE30, I bought some from a shop selling lawn mower oil 1lt was £8.00.  you should only need about 55cc per fork.  don't forget the new fibre washers for the various bolts on the fork legs.  One washer for the drain screw is the seloc type.  Rubber, encasing a star washer.

maybe the admin people can remove the duplicates of your pictures.

advice

Post  piston 197 on Fri Aug 11, 2017 5:15 pm

Chrome bezel just taps off, drift of aluminium and a hammer, easier to do it with the shroud still on the forks
Stud on swing arm underside is for the bottom chainguard

Yes i have tool to put fork seals on ,Club spares £6.50p each including postage

oil in forks is as said above, one fuel cap measure from your petrol tank cap measuring tube per leg

the loop on the frame is for the swivel part that actuates the brake light switch

I have managed to remove most of the multiple images !

Hi Scott, The welded metal loop on the right hand frame part is actually for the centre stand to stop against when in the up position. You fit a bolt with 2 nuts to allow adjustment. Yours might be a bit mis-aligned. It's difficult to picture the exact orientation from your photo. On the Falcon the brake switch pivot that John refers to is mounted to a separate bracket on the left-hand side (as I'm certain he knows). See pics below:

Correction

Post  piston 197 on Mon Aug 14, 2017 7:14 am

Steve, yes you are correct I thought I was looking at the outside of the r/hand frame rail and not the inside of the l/hand one , you are right and I am wrong !
Thanks
