The chrome on one of the rear forks is rather tatty/rusted - and I need to service both the fronts and rear. Anyone please got any information on how to strip down and renew.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Do you mean the shrouds on the shock absorbers ?
to strip these down place the small end on the ground or in a vice press down the top shroud and get someone else to remove the 2 loose, half circle collets in the top, both shrouds and the spring can be taken off when these collets are removed
