Battery for 1951 Falcon 55

Post  derkna23 on Fri Jul 14, 2017 5:58 pm

Hi all, I understand that the original battery for my 1951 Falcon 55 was an Exide type 3EK5AL 6Volt and 12 amp hours. Where can I get a replacement modern day equivalent that fits the original carrier. Thanks in anticipation of your help.

You can buy a replica dummy battery case, looks like original, but will take a modern battery inside, cases are available in both fibre glass and Rubber
available from ClassicBikeShop.co.uk in both Lucas and Exide patterns

Thanks for that John, but it was a battery I was after that would fit in the original holder.

Any battery you buy will be a modern battery in white plastic and will look an eyesore, with the replica battery case it will be Black, look like an original and have Lucas or Exide on it like the originals and hide the modern smaller battery inside.
But if you want to find a modern 6Volt battery t=in the original size ,you may be unlucky as time has moved on an d modern battery of a similar output is now a smaller item ?
