Cruiser 80 engine

Post  kerabo on Tue Jul 11, 2017 4:37 pm

I have just had a member join us that has a Cruiser 80 but with a 3T.

Anyone heard of one fitted to a FB?

3T FB

In my Villiers engine listing, there are only 2T & 4T engines specified for FB, not even for a James either. Same basic engine though, so the extra 75cc will help push the bike along a bit quicker

Cruiser 80

I hadn't realised it was 75cc more. Thought it was 100 more.
Should have the AMC unit from new.

Interesting to see what it's like

3T engine

Post  piston 197 on Tue Jul 11, 2017 5:31 pm

The 3T is basically the same as the 2T, but larger cylinder bore to accommodate 2 off 31C Villiers 150cc pistons, the longer stroke of the twin engines ups the capacity from 2 x150 (300cc) to 324cc
Fitted by Panther and Greeves among others and there was a tuned version that went into the Panther model 50, but not  a lot of performance was gained over the 2T

You cannot overbore the 2T cylinder  to take the larger pistons, the 3T barrels are cast differently to accommodate the larger pistons

( I have removed the duplicate post)
