Please could anyone tell me or better still send a photo of the position of the Ign Coil & rectifier . I am using a standard Coil & a new small square rectifier with 4 contacts. Also do you have to earth thro' the centre bolt hole of the rectifier to the frame of the bike?

modern 4 contatc rectifier

Post  Bigjim on Mon Jul 03, 2017 5:12 pm

look at you rectifier, the 4 tags should be labelled.
+ve -neg and two with this symbol ~(AC) Is your bike POS or NEG earthed?
If POS then put the POS tag to earth. If NEG earthed then put NEG tag to earth.
All of this assumes you have an alternator, which the Wipac manual says you do.
The old style rectifier has 3 connectors, the fourth being the CENTRAL bolt to earth. My diagram shows light green & white as the AC into the rectifier and BROWN as DC out. It also says it is a POS earth, so the brown wire goes to the NEG on the rectifier and POS tag goes to earth

Thanks Bigjim . Have Identified the Rectifier terminals OK . .The bike does have an alternator and it is pos earth

Many thanks Peter
