kestrel 69 fork construction question

kestrel 69 fork construction question

HI all, My Kestrel 69 rebuilt is progressing. I need to replace the fork suspension bushes. I understand that I have to remove the caps fitted to the top of the fork tubes before I can tap out the bushes.. Are these caps screwed on, braised, or friction fitted. what's the best/easiest way of removing them. I don't want to wreck them. Many thanks johnh

Fork caps

Just looked at a spare pair of Kestrel 69 forks I have and the caps are brazed on, you will have to heat them up with oxy/acetylene torch sufficiently hot to melt the braze before you remove them,
and braze back on once the bushes have been replaced
