Registering a Seagull

Post  Mike Neden on Sat Apr 29, 2017 3:50 pm

Hi

I have my V55/5 & dating certificate. Does the bike need an MoT (it's a 1935 model), or can I get a registration number without it?

Thanks

Mike

MOT to register

As the bike is pre 1960 you only need to complete a V112 MOT exemption form when submitting the V55/5 and dating paperwork, you also need to send a copy of your driving licence or passport ( photocopy will do) and a recent utility bill to prove your residential address

Forgive me is this is a stupid question, but if the bike doesn't need tax or an mot, do I need an insurance cover note?

Yes it does

As an application for a new ( age-related) number it counts as first registration /taxation ( form V55/5) so it will need
1 an MOT exemption form ( V112)
2 Insurance ( can be got on chassis No as you will not yet know the registration you will be given)
3 Tax fee ( in this case nothing as pre 1974)
4 First registration fee of 55
