Gear selector shaft o rings

Post  slinkymalinky on Thu Apr 20, 2017 5:48 pm

Does anyone know the size of the o rings on the gear selector shaft of an AMC 25T?

I have a significant leak at the shaft and if anyone knows the size of the o rings I need to order it'll save me having to drain the oil and dismantle the cover this eve before ordering.

Ta!

O rings

The same as the ones on the AMC lightweight boxes. Best buy a selection box at a jumble for a a few quid, there will be one in there and the rest are always useful.

selection box is the way to go, should be a size which fits within and can't really go wrong for the price

If you're hell bent on just buying the two needed let me know and I'll measure my old ones for you

Thanks guys. I've ordered an ebay set because, as you say, I'm certain I'll need a selection in the future.

Don't expect a perfect oil free seal.

Hi
AMC CLASSIC SPARES do special seal which is more o a square section than round and they work well. You may have to phone them to order but if you tell them its for a lightweight gearbox they will know.

Gear shaft

As said get a selection.
Use the largest that will let you insert the shaft but do use grease while doing it.
Mine don't leak. Remember there are O rings in the case for the kickstart and gear lever shafts Same again
