Hi Peter,

If your coil formers are Ok and it is just the windings that are faulty you could consider having them rewound. Any motor rewind company should be able to help or try one of the folks who do magneto/dynamo repairs. If they can rewind a magneto armature your 1H coils would be no problem.

Dave

Thanks Peter,
Armours list a cruiser 68 silencer, just looked at my Villiers singles and twins book and it says 68 had a 1H engine, so logic would suggest this will fit my 75?

Going to dig out my box of 1H 75 spares now, I also have 2 engines and I know one sparks the plug, not sure about the lighting coils though - the memories are coming back, it's been around 15-20 years since I worked on the original engine Very Happy

1h Coils

Post  peter@dunfordconstruction on Sun May 14, 2017 1:18 pm

Hi Ian,

There are 4 coils the top & bottom are lighting coils and the side ones are ignition coils.

I am sure they do a 75 Silencer as I bought one from them

Found the coils Peter, they are still attached to the crankcase half, I don't have an impact piece long enough to get the back plate off, pay the postage for the whole item, try it out, keep what you need if it works and send the rest back to me,

It's probably best, in this day and age, not to post your home address. Use the PM message to send your home details privately.
