Pannier Equipment

Post  Osmerus on Sun Mar 26, 2017 1:43 pm

A number of years ago I purchased a pair of Pannier Carriers (Part No. 5807 RH and 5808 LH) for my 1956 Francis Barnett Falcon 74. Apart from cleaning them up they have been put away until yesterday when I acquired a pair of very nice ex military haversacks which I intend to use as pannier bags. Glancing down through the Parts Book I see that a Pannier Hanger (Part 6245)is part of the standard kit intended for the Pannier Carrier to which the Pannier Bag would be fitted.
Could anybody shed more light on this component by either sending me an image or a sketch.

Many thanks

Pannier Equipment

Post  Osmerus on Mon Mar 27, 2017 11:02 am

Many thanks to Peter W who sent me a scan from his 1954 Falcon/Kestrel Spares Book which has given me the clearest picture yet of what I am looking for. I am not completely sure about the hanging plate but I am a lot more confident of being able to replicate it in aluminium.

Kind regards

This auction has ended but you still should be able to view the original listing and hence the pictures. I take it that they are the same or similar to the frames you are looking for.

Panniers

Post  piston 197 on Mon Mar 27, 2017 7:08 pm

Yes that is the post 1955 style carrier frames and rear rack, but not the pannier hanging brackets which are used to mount the panniers to these carriers , which the original poster was seeking, these can be viewed on Ebay with the item number I listed earlier

Panniers for sale

Post  piston 197 on Sat Apr 22, 2017 9:04 am

I have a pair of Panniers with hangers and top rack for use with the side rails ( but no side rails)
The Rexine is a bit tatty on the panniers, but the hangers are excellent as is the rack (rack is type pictured about 3 comments above)

All items are for sale, or I will be listing them on Ebay shortly

Pannier Equipment

Post  Osmerus on Sat Apr 22, 2017 6:06 pm

Hello John

Many thanks for letting me know about the availability of your Pannier Equipment. Basically I would like to buy the back plates for the bags and the top rack which is attached to the pannier frames. I wouldn't want to purchase the Rexin Pannier Bags as I have obtained two brand new miltary waterproof bags of the same size.

Would you please let me know what you want for "the metalwork"?

Kind regards

Simon

Or you could buy the rexine panniers, with QD back frames and fittings and top rack from me for half of that, but you would have to supply your own side rails
