Wanted 9E part

Post  kerabo on Mon Mar 20, 2017 12:11 pm

I am in need of the alloy backplate that holds the lighting and ignition coils on a 9E.
I don't need any coils but if they are with it that's fine.

Either message me here or contact same as membership Secterary .

Is this the "points back plate " ?

Post  piston 197 on Mon Mar 20, 2017 5:12 pm

Ken , you recently asked me for a points back plate , I looked for a points backplate which is the item the points mount on to be adjusted to set the timing on a 9E
Is this request for a coil backplate the same thing and you mis-described it , because if it is then I will have another look ! as I was looking for what you asked for and not this ?

Backplate

Post  kerabo on Mon Mar 20, 2017 6:04 pm

Hi John
I was trying to think where the points are on the 9E as mine don't have them. I imagined that the end of the crank protruded through a casting and the points on the outside. Anyway I need the part that the lighting and ignition coild mount onto
Mine has been machined and won't do for my conversion.

Yes I understand now, you were asking me for a points back plate, but you meant an inner timing case, I will look again when I am next at the lock up
On the 8E the points are on the inner timing case with the coils, but on a 9E there are no points on the inner timing case , they are on the outer timing case under the pear shaped points cover.

So you need an inner timing case then ?

Ken, I have 3, but do not think they will be any use to you > as they have all been machined to take motoplat units for Go-Kart use , so original coils cannot be fitted

Hi John

I will be fitting Eletrex from VS so don't know either.
I have my kit so if you could send me one I can size it up and if not will return it

Ken, the Moto plat unit is a lot bigger than the Elextrex world set up so won't be any use I am afraid
