Leaking fuel

Post  S.C_07 on Tue Mar 07, 2017 6:16 pm

I have a 59 falcon with a 10e engine . It runs smoothly and usually tarts first time everytime , however whenever I put the fuel tap on fuel starts pissing out the back of the carb . Is this normal ?😂 If I start the bike quick enough it usually stops however when the engine stops it will begin leaking fuel again. Dose anyone know what causes this and how to solve this ?
Thanks
Scott

leaking carb

Post  piston 197 on Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:28 pm

Couple of possibilities
1 Float in carb wrong way up ? it is marked bottom on one side
2 float has a hole in it
3 needle jet and fuel needle not seating properly ( usually new required to fix)
4 fuel level too high in float bowl, possibly bent fuel needle actuator lever ?

Either way if the fuel is leaking from the back of the carb the fuel level is to high, either by leaking or one of the above

Carb woes

Post  piston 197 on Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:45 pm

Yes, will be a bit different to the 96 as the 10E uses the Villiers S25 carb, but same set of circumstances, just different parts

Hi
Thank you for your responses , sound advice , Im certain the floats the right way up as I remember buying a new float from you at the auto jumble and remember you explaining that to me 😂 Thank you though , ill have a look at the other suggestions for a simple fix and failing that I'll have a crack at a new float kit .
Thank you very much
Scott
