Wont idol

Post  S.C_07 on Sun Jan 22, 2017 5:35 pm

Hi Ive replaced the clutch plates on my falcon and Its finally started moving , the clutch occasionally slips when attempting to start. But the bike won't idol , on occasion it will allowing me to move the bike . But most of the time it wont idol , when standing still fuel starts to leak out the back of the carbeurette . Does anyone know what may fix my idoling issues and leaking issues .
Thanks
Scott

Not sure what bike you have and if you gave fuel coming out then you gave a problem but if your clutch us dragging its not going to idle very well if it's in gear.

You will have to be finding out why you have petrol leaking from the carb then first.

Check the float height and that the needle is seating and then maybe check its base settings and go frm there

Does it leak from the back of the carb when it's not running?

If you turn your fuel off and let it run out does it start to ren better just before it stops?

Im not entirely sure if it runs better before it runs out but It does actuslly leak when not running standing still with the fuel tap on it begins to drip down the casing then onto ground .

Take the carb off and remove the float bowl. Turn it upside down and see what gap you have under the float. I think 7/32"comes to mind but can't swear to it just put gentle pressure in the float and try .

Scott, There is no idle control on the 10E / S25 carburettor set-up you have. It isn't designed to run without your hand on the throttle. You obviously need to sort out the leaking fuel but even after that, if you want it to keep running you need to control it via the twist grip.
