8E main Jet

8E main Jet

Has anyone that has an 8E engine with the S25 carb fitted know what size main jet they have fitted. I am building an engine that has a 120 fitted. This looks a very large hole so just asking as I go.

main jet

Yes 120 is correct for a Villiers 8E whether fitted with a S24 or S25, if the hole looks bigger, maybe someone has drilled it out ?

Mine seems very boggy with the 120 in it. I will do some experimenting with the jetting, in the summer.

Main Jet

Andrew it is unlikely to be the size of the main jet, the full diameter of the main jet is not utilised until 3/4 to full throttle opening, pick up from tick over to 1/4 throttle is controlled by the pilot jet, slide cut away and the taper of the throttle needle. so if it is bogging down it is very unlikely to be influenced by the main jet size. If it is not revving out cleanly from 3/4 to full throttle opening then you main jet may well be the culprit

Thanks Piston. Yes, i understand the way the carburetor works.
I need to go through every thing. Need to check the timing aswell as going through the carb. I enjoy modifying and setting up 2 strokes. First one i tuned and set up was when i was 15. Now 46 and still learning. This is my first british bike and got more to learn Very Happy
