Post  Colin73 on Fri Dec 02, 2016 1:31 pm

Hi have been trying to fit a rear brake return spring to my falcon 74 .I am not sure if it is the right spring as it was not fitted to the bike it is about 1" in dia with a u shape on one end and a slight bend on other cannot figure out how it fits .A photo or diagram of how to fit and where would be a great help. Thanks colin

Colin, if it is the wrong one, I have the correct one , I had 100 made a few years ago from an original pattern when I needed one, and still have a few left .
In case you have the correct one, the long arm sits above the spindle/spacer and the "U" shape on the other end hooks onto the brake cam arm.
You have to wind some tension into it, about 1/3 of a turn, so that it returns the cam arm.

Yes it should be pushing the arm back in the off position and cannot do this if it is pressing on the back of the arm, send me a p.m with your Email address and I will photograph one and send you a pic, am away for the weekend and not available till Tuesday so may take a couple of days
