Powerbike 56 tyres 21" x 2.25"

Hi all, getting on well with my PB56 now, paintwork all done, but struggling to locate the tyres which seem to be like "hen's teeth"! Any assistance would be much appreciated. Also still need a couple of pedal back brake items, the overide lever and the other block that goes with it. Cheers.

Sadly 21 x 2.25 tyres are beyond the hens teeth range, nor even within the scope of the holy grail. Until recently 21 x 2.50 Kings tyres were available, these have the correct tread pattern and although slightly oversize would just about fit within the Powerbike 56 frame. Sadly they are no longer manufactured and it seems that all supplies have disappeared, unless you are very lucky. Original Dunlop autocycle tyres are sometimes on offer, but it is inevitable that they will be perished. Remember that the last autocycle manufacturer , New Hudson, ended production in 1958.

Some 21 x 2.50 tyres are on the market, although wth an unoriginal tread pattern but it may be possible to fit them but you will need to check clearances carefully. Danny at Mopedland may be able to advise you. Website http://www.mopedland.ukfsn.org/chain/index.html#tyre

What about these tires on Ebay? The seller is in the UK.
21x2.25 tires

Also, Heidenau makes a 21x2.50 tire. I currently run Heidenau tires on my Falcon 74 and on my sidecar.

Hi, thanks very much for your reply. I really wanted all black tyres, these are whitewall. The other issues I have found is in the sizing, there are many shown on the web as 2.25" x 17 and then in brackets (21" x 2.25") which look correct, I ordered some of these from Germany which despite me asking them many times will they fit found on delivery they were much too small. I will contact Heidenau again and see what they say. Thanks again

Tyre sizes

Post  piston 197 on Thu Oct 27, 2016 11:39 am

When tyres have n imperial size as in 17 x 2.25 and then in brackets (21 x 2.25) the second size is the outside diameter, unless they make them out of elastic they cannot fit both sizes, all 3 dimensional objects have 3 dimensions ! in this case 17" inside diameter 21" outside diameter and 2.25" width, hence they will not fit a wheel of 21" diameter
