Villiers 8E ignition coil - best replacement?

Post  Miner74 on Thu Sep 29, 2016 5:13 pm

Hi
I have a Falcon 74 which has a duff ignition coil (dated 25 Jan 1966 so it's done well) and I wondered where to get a good replacement at a reasonable price.

I see Villiers Services have a like for like at around 50 all in, and Feked have one not quite like for like for around 25 all in. So what's best not-so-cheap and cheerful or fairly expensive but guaranteed?

Thanks

Rick

ignition coil

I have replaced the ignition coil on both my Falcon 74's both fitted with 8e. The road going one has a coil from VS , the trials has a cheap one from ebay .They both seem to work as well as each other (at the moment anyway) . The VS was fitted about 3or4 years ago the cheap one only about 8 months .The cheap one needed a bit of soldering to make a good contact with the HT lead , this was made clear at time or purchase . So at the end of the day you pays your and takes your chances , not much help but they will both work .
