AMC 15T Flywheel removal

Post  Kevin B Smith on Thu Aug 18, 2016 1:32 pm

Hi,

Anyone got any bright ideas on removing a 15T flywheel? I am using the right puller, have soaked it with WD40 and poured a considerable amount of boiling water over the flywheel, tapped the puller, left in on under tension , etc,..... before I resort to a gas torch is there anything I am missing??

Thanks

Kevin

FLYWHEEL REMOVAL

Post  piston 197 on Thu Aug 18, 2016 2:03 pm

Sounds like you are doing it right to me, just a stubborn taper holding you back ?

system should be
1 remove l/h nut holding flywheel on
2 screw puller ( l/hand thread) into flywheel internal thread
3 tighten centre bolt in puller and it comes off ( or not in your case ?)

Be careful if puller has a pointed ended bolt it can split the end of the crankshaft, always best to use a flat ended bolt and slip a sleeve over end of crank to protect the end from splitting.

best of luck

Application of patience and some more WD40 - came off with a "pop".

Thanks.
