10D Lighting Coils

Post  PeterW on Tue Aug 09, 2016 8:45 pm

Hi all,

Iím a bit confused about how to connect the two lighting coils on my 10D. Each coil has two wires emerging from it at the same point on the windings. The braided fabric sleeving is very grubby and faded but I think it looks like a red and a black wire from each coil. Should any of these wires be connected together and which do i use to go the the main switch mounted on the headlight bowl? By the way, its a direct system.

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

When the machine is wired for the direct (a.c.) lighting system the two lighting coils are wired in parallel to provide full output. Connect the two coil "red" ouputs together and likewise the "black" outputs. From the "red" connection take a feed to your lighting switch and earth the coil "black" outputs.

Hope this helps.

Dave.
