Borders classic

Post  stuart elkes on Tue Aug 02, 2016 6:00 pm

I am looking for members to show their bike at Borders Classic show in Cleobury Mortimer on 10th 11th September. If you are interested contact me on the forum or phone 01746714364. If any member is organising an event or displaying a bike and needs the clubs insurance I now have the current certificate which I will copy and send to you. Stuart Elkes.

10th September

Post  piston 197 on Tue Aug 02, 2016 7:08 pm

Once again a clash with South Midland Auto jumble on the 10th September, guess where I will be ? Borders classic used to be a one day show, the organisers moved it to be a 2 day show and had the cheek to ring me up last year with 2 months to go to ask me if we would consider changing the date of the Auto jumble as it clashed with their event, we have only been using this Saturday date for 26 years !!! Needless to say you can guess the outcome/ reply ?

Great weekend nice bikes good company best club stand award. Many thanks to Des Heckle and David Lloyd for bringing their bikes to display, both traveled a long way. Thanks also to Peter Brumwell for helping to man the stand on Sunday and to Ken Booth for interrupting his back up duties on a lands end John o'groats bike ride to come and visit us. A very enjoyable weekend and I look forward to next year with even more bikes. Stuart Elkes.

My first time to this event and was able to perchase some useful AMC parts and a pitman book for my latest challenge. We ( her indoors) timed a light lunch break to perfection has Des Heckle and wife were sat opposite and I was able to show him photos of the part piles ( loosely called F/B bikes ) and the challenge to get all the parts assembled and fitting together before final paint finish. Hope your trip back to Devon goes well. Bob.

this weekend

Post  piston 197 on Sun Sep 11, 2016 7:31 pm

We had a wet one at Ross on Saturday, but got away with it, still managed a good turn out of both stall holders and customers, but the weather curtailed things early and was over by lunchtime, a few of our stallholders were leaving us to come to the Borders Classic on Sunday.
I nearly joined them, but the Ludlow food festival won out, if you have not been to the food festival. it is worth the visit !
