Leaking fuel

Post  S.C_07 on Wed Jul 13, 2016 4:36 pm

Hi my francis barnett falcon 19589 9E is finally running on the first kick but leaving it to idle means fuel starts to leak out the back of the carbauretta where the air filter is and it leaks quite alot . Does anyone knoe what causes this and a solution for it .
Thank you
Scott

fuel leak

The float should rise and then the needle it presses upon should cut off the fuel supply to prevent excess, when the level drops the needle opens and more fuel is allowed in.
At a guess your fuel cut off needle is not working
This could be
1 dirt/grit in needle seat
2 worn needle
3 worn seat
4 wrong carb manifold , if you have one from a 9E instead of a 10E one the carb will not be level as the 9E engine is set up to slope forward and the 10E to be upright,
Bit of investigation required, possibly some cleaning and maybe some new parts ( needle, seat, manifold)
