New Owner Looking For Help

Post  Al Frost on Tue Apr 12, 2016 3:43 am

Hello: I've recently come into possession of a Francis Barnett Powerbike. Serial Number NH10018H and engine # 434/3411. The speedo reads 308 miles. It was purchased in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. I have the original bill of sale.

Is there a shop manual available for this model?

It is not running and I'd like to correct that. Right now, the pedals freewheel, both ways. The brake rod is not hooked up. Which hole does it connect to?

The LH disengaging(?) lever does move the cable at the bottom of what I believe to be the transmission, but moving the lever/cable does not engage the pedals.
In order to move the bike, the decompression lever has to be held in.

Any suggestions on where to start with getting the bike mobile?

Where is the best place to purchase new tires?

FP Powerbike 50

Post  FB vincent on Tue Apr 12, 2016 7:56 am

The frame number suggests it is a late (1948?) Powerbike 50, with the Villiers JDL engine. The User Guide and parts list is generally available on ebay and elsewhere, but send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a pdf copy; this may help with some of your queries. Fortunately Villiers Services are able to supply most engine parts. Sandy Ross
