Brooklands

You know you're getting old (48!) when you turn up at the gate at Brooklands only to be told it was yesterday! Back to Coventry we head with the boot full of spares I brought with me. Knew it was this weekend and it's always a Sunday..first time at Brooklands for me too.

Steve.

Bad luck, Steve - you missed a great (and very warm!) day.

I did a similar thing last year with a model engineering show in the Midlands - except I was a week late... My excuse - I AM old.

I'm gutted to say the least. I've been to most (if not all) AGMs since 1999. If only someone had posted about how good it was last night. I checked the forum this morning before I left. Lesson learnt. I forgot my first family birthday 2 weeks ago. The end is nigh!

7 and a half hours after I left I am at home at last. I stayed for 2 and a half hours looking around the Brooklands museum / track. Looking at the last 'directory' I can see why I missed the date. All of the articles mentioning the AGM including those specifically giving details about the event / programme on pages 11, 12, 15 and 16 do not mention the date at-all let alone it being on a Saturday this year. I did, however, unfortunately miss the half page advert on page 18, and the events page on page 28, both of which do. Hey ho, at least it's back at Gaydon next year.

Wrong day

Post  kerabo on Mon Aug 10, 2015 6:43 pm

Your not the first. When I joined several years ago I set of for Leiston in Suffolk only to be told it was yesterday. Just as I pulled out I spotted 3 Barnetts being riden and flagged them down. Ended up with going home and a Sunday lunch and a Friend for life.

Regards ken
