1954 Falcon type 67

Post  robertpowe on Sun Jan 25, 2015 9:22 pm

Hi, I have a Frances Barnett bike that I am about to restore. Its frame No is UUM70616B which I believe is a 1954 Falcon. Can anyone tell me what colour it should be please and also has anyone got any photos that would help. Especially around the headlight speedo area. Also a wiring diagram would make life a lot easier as I am not sure if it should have a regulator. There is 1 in the box of bits but I don't know if it came off it. It appears to be nearly all there.
Thank you,
robertpowe

Falcon

From the frame number I cam tell it is a series 2 falcon 67 ( roller bearings in wheel hubs) and it was azure blue ( B at end of frame number) yes it had rectified lighting and a battery, nearest colour to Azure blue is (or was) Skoda 4466 smoke blue

Falcon 67

Hi Robert, I believe this a Falcon 67 in Azure blue, which has had a daul seat fitted, normally they have a single saddle. If this is not a 67 i'm sure someone will put us right. Mike

Nope, that is a Falcon Model 58. The 67 had a bigger petrol tank with plastic badges & rubber knee grips.

Thanks for that Jack, I really should have known that, maybe I was taken in by the Azure blue! Can I try and redeem myself with the correct wiring diagram. Mike

Falcon 67

Post  robertpowe on Sat Feb 07, 2015 10:15 pm

Thank you for all your help. My wife and I will be in the UK in May and June and we would like to see a Falcon model 67 and get some photos to help with the reassembly of ours. We will be at Beauleu during the auto jumble on the 16th & 17th May after that we could be anywhere in England or Scotland. If anyone can tell us where we can get some photos and see a bike please let us know.
Thank you,
Robert.

Dear Robert, I rebuilt a blue 67 in 2013. I still have one or two bits (new centre stand: peculiar to that model, new dual seat pan, middle front mudguard stay etc.). Also have a supply of powder coat in PRU Blue, which I contend is the correct colour. If you search this forum you should find photos of the finished bike. I have lots of photos of the rebuild & assemblies too. You are welcome to visit in May (but I sold it last year to a couple in Kent).
