My Merlin is now running but....

Post  MrTweedy on Sun May 04, 2014 5:10 pm

...doesn't sound too good!  I can get it to start, (thanks for your help in tracing the problem, Adrian), but it doesn't pick up to well from closed throttle position.  It will pick up a bit, then sort of choke or bog down before running better at higher revs.
Anybody have any clues as to what I can look at or adjust?
Please have a look at the Youtube video below, it might help.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Regards

Sounds a bit weak on low mixture.
I saw your other video of it running & thought the same, sounded weak. Mine sounds a bit like that if it's running out of gas (like when I forget to turn the tap on).
Screw in idle screw a bit or raise needle perhaps?

Thanks for that, Jack. I'll look into that as a starting point. Do you have any videos of your Merlin running? Would be interesting to compare.

I do have vids of both my 197 8Es running, but lack the wherewithal to display them.
