Hi Tony,
Actually, the initials JH rang a bell from the past and I guessed you probably meant John Harding. Thanks for your patience in having to send a second message.
Regards, Stan

OK John but thanks for letting me know. I wonder if there are any 'after market' cables of the right length and with the right nipples?

Falcon 70 throttle cables

Post  chrisc on Sat Nov 16, 2013 8:21 pm

Hi Stan, I was in the same boat as you (so to speak) I went to my local cycle shop and bought two lengths of brake cable outers, cut to any length you like and two chrome end pieces to tidy the ends, the inner cables are bought separately and have a small nipple on one end, these have to be ground down a little on the sides to allow them to fit in the carburetter throttle slide and choke, on the twist grip end just used the old nipples by gently heating them until the solder melted and they fell off the old inner cable, then re solder them on the new "cut to length" cable.
Hope this helps and i'm not trying to teach you something you already know
Regards Chris

Thanks Chris and you are by no means teaching me something I already know though an engineer friend of mine did show me an add for a 'universal' throttle cable which came with various nipples and told me we could probably make one up. In the meantime, I have ordered an old stock Rodex cable for a 200cc James (Villiers 8E engine) which I hope may fit. It's kind of you to offer the advice, thanks.

No problem Stan, The thing is with these new cables, they have a nylon insert which make for a nice smooth operation, I am really pleased with the way its worked out, Hope you get sorted soon. Cheers Chris

Thanks Stuart, I'll give them a try if the James cable is no good.
