Fulmar 88 Rear Light

Post  MoscowFlyer on Fri Sep 13, 2013 10:29 pm

Hi John, Welcome to the FBOC forum. Below is a pic of the rear light on the Fulmar 88, I think it's maybe the Wipac type, I don't think they make replacements for these, so you'll have to get used or nos. Ebay might be your best bet. The Lucas type are available and will fit just as well. Mike

Hi Mike,
Thank you very much for that. I wasn't sure what the original light looked liked.
I will buy the one on the link.

Thank you again,

Fulmar 88 Rear Light

Post  MoscowFlyer on Tue Sep 17, 2013 4:02 pm

Hi John, I forgot to mention the reflector, although you may kown already. When using the Lucas rear light, you will need to fit a reflector, whereas with the Wico-Pacy or Wipac they have a built in reflector. All vehicles that use the public highway have to have reflectors fitted by law, for motorcycles it should be at least 1 1/2" in diameter facing squarely to the rear, and be between 15" and 42" from the ground. Yes Mike is right the 88 used the wipac "cat's eye" rear light No is S142,The lucas one is a different fitting ,but with the drilling of 3 holes can be fitted and most people won't know the difference.
If you google wipac rear light images you can see one,

Thank you both very much. I have now bought a Lucas light. I can remember seeing the Wipac light with the built in reflector years ago on the bike. The Lucas one is very similar. I will sort out a reflector on the rebuild.
Thank you again,
John
