Powerbike Identification

Post  Aitch on Mon Jul 29, 2013 9:40 am

I have been asked to help sell a FB Powerbike - or that's what we think it is. I will put an ad in the Forum so that those not on the web can see it. However, I would like to confirm the details. The engine number is : 801 11273 and the frame number is SN 17794. It has the original reg number and a V5c. It all looks original and is 99% complete. I am told it has been started and runs ok.
Can anyone (John?) confirm the identity for me and a ballpark value?

SN is a 1952 powerbike model 56 , 98cc Villiers 2F engine, unlike new items at fixed MRRP any of this old tut is only worth what someone is prepared to pay, if uncertain, place it in auction and it will make what someone is prepared to pay. Generally speaking at the cheap end it is 400 and at the dearest 1000 , but so much will depend on a number of things i.e. condition, originality, whether the reg . No has any value and whether it can be transferred to another vehicle. I would suggest if you don't know what you are doing , put it in auction, and if you have a figure in mind advertise it. it will sell if someone sees it as good value and won't if they don't.

As ever, I am very grateful. I think the owner wants the bike to go to someone who will enjoy it rather than just making a quick profit hence the ad will go in The Directory in the first instance. I'll find out about the transferable reg as that will make a considerable difference, I'm afraid.
Thanks again.
