oil level

Post  piston 197 on Fri Dec 28, 2012 8:31 pm

There is an oil level screw on the outercase, approx 3/4" up from the lowest pointremove this and, fill until fluid comes out of this hole, with the machine on a level surface,Personally i would not put any oil in ,i would use ATF or TQF (automatic gearbox fluid) JH

Would this be the same on a Falcon 81 (10e) ? I have just tried to check the oil and when i took the screw out i got about amugful out before it stopped running.. presumably what is left is the correct quantity, if not how do i drain the oil to replace it completely, does the primary have to come off with remainder of oil going everywhere..

oil level

There should be 2 drain screws/plugs on the inner chain case, one is at the lowest point ( to drain oil out) other is above lowest point, this is the level screw/ plug.
i.e. Place machine on a level surface, take out lower drain screw and drain all oil, ( automatic transmission fluid ) refit drain screw, take out level screw/plug, fill with oil until it starts to flow from upper screw/ plug, refit screw/plug, now level should be correct.

only one drain plug

Suggest then to drain oil place rear wheel on something high enough so the drain plug is at lowest level, drain oil, then sit bike level and refill ??, unless you have a ready supply of chain case gaskets ??

ok will do that now, thanks a lot,  R

just tried that and got a lot more oil out, poured some more new tqf in and it really didn`t take much, none of the villiers maintenance manuals i got with the bike appear to say what the quantity should be though, it stopped running out of level plug so i called that it !

primary case

I would check the gearbox level. Could it be leaking into the primary chaincase? Perhaps that would explain the over full oil level in the case. If it was mine, I'd check the gearbox to make sure it has enough oil. Sad

I did check, correct level and nice and clean, unlike the black stuff from the primary...
