The frame pre-fix B deotes a plover 86 made between sept1 1959 and August 30th 1960 and is a 1960 model i suggest you re-check the engine number and you should find it starts 15T (not 12T) and it is an AMC 149cc 15T 3 speed engine,JH

FRANCIS BARNETT ENGINE AND FRAME NUMBERS

Post  JARVO on Thu Dec 06, 2012 6:44 pm

Hi Piston 197, many thanks for the reply regarding my engine and frame numbers. The engine is has been stamped 12T 5090 so I wonder if anybody has changed them but there is not any evidence of it been changed and what for I wonder? What if it is a 15T engine how would I tell? I will post a photo tomorrow taken in daylight so it will come out better, many thanks again for your reply, David.

15T engine

Post  piston 197 on Thu Dec 06, 2012 7:19 pm

There were a 15T,16T,17T,20T and 25T made by AMC,but not a 12T,logic would have it that it would have been a 125 cc if they had,15&16 were 150cc,17,171cc,20,199cc and 25,249cc,but no 12T,so the engine number is meaningless, maybe someone picked up the wrong stamp and stamped a 2 instead of a 5 ?????
