kick start

Hi does anyone know the cause , I have a F/B Falcon with a Villiers 8E and periodicaly the kick start lever does not catch ,it is not slipping on the splines,

kick start slipping

Bob ,if you take the end case offf the gear box ,(or one of the spare ones i think you may have) the kick start shaft has a ratchet pawl which is spung out into the end gear,this pawl is probably either worn ,the corresponding gear worn,or the spring/pawl sticking,JH
