Paint supplier has offered to mix paint to match existing original colour, as with his paint system he can only use BS or RAL specs.

This is always a problem.
Most bikes are not the same colour although most are in Arden Green.
Its still used as a Rover Colour and you may find some on maybe a landrover.
I had some new unused parts in original green and if you go to halfords and ask them to mix from their computer chart its very close but only aerosols.

ARDEN GREEN

Thank you for the reply, I contacted my local Land Rover agent, the only colour still listed is Ardenne green metallic, so I think it will have to be the mix to suit route.

Ask for a price first.
My local paint shop wanted about 180.00 to mix in ICI paint Not sure if that was 1 or 2 litres but either way its expensive. In the end I found some on Ebay for about 45.00 2 pack Not a perfect match but not bad

paint formula

Post  piston 197 on Tue Feb 21, 2012 6:32 pm

Ken ,that listing is A** backwards ,the formula is cumulative,i.e. you start with the lowest weight (221 gms) then add the next colour to the next lowest weight and so on until you arrive at 1009gms (1000gms = 1 litre)The lowest weight is the first colour, the second is added to the scales till the next weight is attained then the third colour till the next weight is reached ,when all colours have been added correctly final weight will be 1009gms and you will have roughly 1 litre of Arden green. You can halve all weights if you require 1/2 litre.JH

Good looking project John but one's enough for me at the moment.
Paint - I emailed the above info. to an Ebayer seller (Trade Paints UK) who lists Land Rover colours and prompts customers to ask for others. The reply was doesn't understand the above info. nor has any access to Arden Green.

Paint.

Post  colk2004 on Thu Jun 04, 2015 5:51 pm

Really opening old wounds (well posts) with this one. Has anyone used http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-us/colours.php for Francis Barnett paints? I know that the Bantam crowd reckon they are spot on for the various years of Bantam and other BSAs. Has anyone finally worked out what the nearest RAL code is for Arden Green? I've spent ages at the local powder coaters with a side panel and the RAL swatch book and come up with RAL 6009 (the Dove White is easier as they have a match for Norton Dove White). Can anyone confirm that this is about right as I'm trying to colour match the inside of a 59 year old side panel!

Cheers Colin

A local powder coater was able to come up with a green that is pretty close to Arden Green so I went with that for durability. I need to post an updated photo of the bike one of these days.

Arden Green

Post  ChrisTurner on Mon Jun 08, 2015 12:50 pm

I had an original FB part colour computer matched at my local paint supplier and it came out as to Mitsubishi Jupiter Green G64 Shade 13E. This is the dark green, not the Land Rover ligher green also known as Arden Green. Buying form a local paint supplier will be considerably cheaper than by mail order. Hope that helps.
