Frame Number Info Please

Post  Simo on Mon Feb 06, 2012 6:20 pm

Hi. I have just purchased a bike with FB on the tank. I am using it for trials and it came with no paperwork. I was told it's a Falcon. It is ridged and has an 8E villiers engine fitted. (Don't think this is original). sorry for rambling. the frame No is TTLS followed by five numbers. Would this be FB frame and a rough year if any one can help. Thanks in antisipation. Mark

Hi, It is an FB frame. TTLS is a 1953 series 2 Merlin model 57 originally fitted with a 122cc 12D villiers engine.
regards,
Steve.

frame number

Post  piston 197 on Wed Feb 08, 2012 7:37 am

To further confuse the info so far TTLS originally started life as a swing arm frame T= 1953,secondT means series 2,L= merlin 122cc,and S= sprung frame,so either bike has been converted to rigid ( i have done this myself) or the frame number does not belong to the bike??you can phone me 01989 750731 if you wish to register it as i am the FB ,DVLA approved dating officer,John
