Paul Goff (and many others) sell reproduction Lucas brake light switches - see his reference Pt.no. SW11042; however, for Francis Barnett use with the cranked lever operation you will need to carefully dismantle the switch by opening up the tabs and then reversing the contacts - otherwise the switch will be 'on' when you expect it to be 'off'. It should then be possible to close up the tabs again. You are unlikely to find an original Lucas item configured as required. Beware of old switches, since the contacts quickly wear out and cannot really be repaired.

A word of warning about speedo cables - these are available from many sources, but the protrusion at the speedo head for the Smiths magnetic instrument is critical (7/16" is probably o.k.) - too long and you will chew up the mechanism. Also check that the speedo head is in working order before fitting up the cable - if it is seized, the cable inner will snap when you move the bike. I have learnt the hard way. Sandy Ross

Post  Mikexyz on Wed Aug 17, 2011 10:06 am

Hello,

I have a complete spare brake switch assembly ready to fit in black, yours for 25 inc. postage.
I renovated it for my bike but then picked up 2 at our local jumble.
Send me a private message if interested.
regards, Mike
