Membership for abroad FB owners

Post  Kjetil on Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:10 am

Hi,

I would like to join the FB owners club, but after filling out the form I went to my bank to make a cheques payable to the club. In Norway the cost of make this cheque is twise the members fee.

Is it possible to make a online registration with paypal solution, or pay the fee direct to your bank account?

Regards

I'll second this. I'm in Australia, and in order to write a cheque I need to set up a new bank account. I simply don't use cheques anymore, and to set up a new account for a single purpose once every year will cost a silly amount in fees, etc. Other methods mentioned to become a member are equally expensive.

It'd be fantastic if we could simply send money to a trusted Paypal account, and would save overseas folk like the other poster and myself a huge amount of money and hastle. Equally, Paypal is relatively hastle free to set up on the recieving end.

I would have joined months ago were it not for this.

I will motion a third I'm from Canada. As past president from a local club here in Canada, It's easy easy easy to set up a paypal account for a club..... Our Membership soared. Our club at the same time got debit transactions. Was real easy to make anyone a member in an instant when we were at club functions....
You really need to investagate this possibility.....

I am another Australian who suports the PayPal idea unfortunatly I have let my membership lapse due to the hassell of getting a bank cheque which costs almost as much as the membership. As someone who has benifited from members advice and help I feel membership is a small way I can repay the club.

Same situation here in the US. I have obtained loads of information for restoring my FB from the club and would like to give back with a membership. PayPal would definitely be the way to go. Even if the club factors in a nominal fee to cover the PayPal currency exchange and service fees it would still be substantially less than the bank fees for an international payment.

I see the AGM is coming up on 11 August is there any chance of getting this subject discussed. I am no longer a financial member (would like to be) so can't officially ask for it to be raised. I do however think it would be of benefit to the club financially and to us from overseas who wish to be members.

The LE Velo Club overcomes this problem by having a member act as a Pay-Pal post box. The system is used for spares too. Works a treat. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I would like to know if someone can help me date my bike and suggest where to buy parts like cables and brake shoes from.
Frame number is 18665, engine number is BZ10737 Villiers super TT. What size engine would this be.
Thanks in advance

To help with expressions of interest I support any means of subscribing other than Britiish pounds bank cheque. I'm in Oz and am going to join however if we can find a way of avoiding the outrageous bank charges for drawing a foreign cheque I'll be in it! Cheers,Steve

Just to follow up on members from abroad. Please don't give up as I will try to eventually get a method of paying like PayPal although that will put a fraction on the amount.

A nominal charge to cover PayPal and/or foreign exchange fees would be reasonable.

PayPal

Just to update this question
Most will know but PayPal is up and running. Visit the main club site not the forum.
It's all very easy.
