Suspension Rubber Bands

Post  Alternator on Wed Apr 13, 2011 8:26 pm

I have a FB Powerbike 50 which has two rubber bands used for the front suspension. These are now perished and need replacing so does anyone know where I might find some or if I can adapt something to fit?
Thanks,
Steve.

Very similiar bands to these are used on grass track and speedway bike front suspension,i would think a look on the computer to any of the grass/speedway suppliers would come up with something, possible suggestions RTS and TIG PERRY (both gloucestershire based) or any other similiar supplier ,JH

Thanks for the suggestions - very helpful.

I've had a look at the forks you mention and some appear to use rubber O rings stretched into shape as the suspension medium. I think I can copy the idea by measuring the old parts that I have and selecting something similar from an O ring catalogue.

rubber bands

The "o" ring type are used on speedway leading link type forks the earlier uprights used flat rubber bands as helpers on the outside of telescopic forks, stretched around two bosses ,one on the slider and one on the stanchion. It was the flat rubber type i was referring to ,not the "o"ring type.I am sure if you speak to one of the grasstrack suppliers, and give them your band dimensions, they will either be able to supply them or know where to get them,JH
