Arden Green

Post  atreyu on Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:36 pm

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a RAL colour code for something near the original Arden Green colour? I intend to have a fair few parts powder coated, but obviously the tank and rear pressed frame/mudguard would look alot better painted, What has anyone else done to get a decent colour match between paint and powder coat?

I've found a modern ICI code "PO30-NH77" but it doesnít mean anything to me! Can anyone help?

I've also seen a resto firm advertising Arden Green as a "always stocked" colour for stove enamelling. I can see this being rather expensive to do the whole bike!

Arden green

Although Arden Green is the colour there seems to be so many shades. I bought 2 lots at different times and both are very dark one is almost black. You see all the bikes in a row and all are different colours.

Same story with Greeves moorand blue Ken, Each model had more or less black added to the paint so they're all different (horrible colour either way!!).

I was just hoping to get something similar, A modern car colour thatís close would be great but I cant think of anything.

I'll email a few paint companies to see if they can supply 2 pack by ICI code? I suppose the whole bike being done in 2K is the answer.

Failing that then I'll just pick something close, I've found a few sites selling tins of cellulose in RAL colour codes which is what my local powder coater goes by, so a decent match should be possible.

I must have been lucky but it's worth a try where ever you live. A local car bodyshop directed me to his paint supplier who scanned in my tool box lid and 10 mins later I had a tin of paint, a perfect match. The firm was Martin Brown 265, Dickson Rd. Blackpool. tel 01253 624893. They may have branches elsewhere. It maybe worth a phone call . John

Sorry Ken, I know mine has had a respray at some time in it's life and it looks to be the right colour but my understanding of the system was that it was not make/model specific. It just matches what it sees. My can is labelled "shop bike green" product code OCEZK. I feel that this may not mean much to anyone other than the guy who mixed it but it's worth a try. Good luck. John

arden under coat

Post  jonknott on Mon Dec 06, 2010 10:31 pm

When rubbing down my Cruiser 80 to re paint, i found a blue undercoat on all parts. Would this affect the final shade of green, and if so what is the correct factory u/coat ?
